Correct manual handling is important to minimise the risk of strain or injury when transporting or supporting a load. Assessing manual handling risks and providing appropriate training is a legal requirement for many workplaces.

Overview

This course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills to carry out manual handling safely and effectively in the workplace, helping to reduce the risk of injury.

The course is broken down into a theory section and a practical element.
The theory covers what constitutes manual handling, relevant legislation and regulations, how our bodies are affected by poor manual handling, safe handling techniques, good working practices and ways to reduce the risk of injury.

During the practical element, participants are shown how manual handling should be carried out before completing lifts under an LCE expert trainer’s guidance, allowing them to apply the knowledge they have gained and demonstrate safe lifting techniques in accordance with the relevant requirements.

We can deliver the full course in person at your site, our training academy or any third-party location anywhere in Ireland, or remotely through live, instructor-led online training.

An alternative eLearning option is also available, where the theory element is completed through LCE’s eLearning portal, with accounts set up by LCE. Employees can complete the approximately one-hour theory course at a time that suits them, followed by a practical assessment delivered by an LCE expert trainer at their workplace. This option allows for greater flexibility for employees. You can learn more here.
