Ergonomics is the science of designing work environments to fit people—not the other way around. By optimising the relationship between individuals and their workspace and tasks, ergonomics enhances comfort, improves efficiency, and supports overall wellbeing.
This ergonomics training course equips delegates with the knowledge and practical skills to identify, assess, and manage ergonomic risks across a wide range of workplace tasks.
Participants can select the ergonomic assessment tools that best suit their workplace needs or combine multiple tools for a more comprehensive approach. Each tool provides the knowledge and practical skills to assess ergonomic risks associated with manual handling, pushing and pulling, and repetitive tasks using methods approved and promoted by the Health and Safety Authority (HSA).
MAC – Manual Handling Chart Assessment tool training covers how to conduct a MAC Assessment.
The course begins with a brief introduction to why manual handling assessments are required and the benefits of using ergonomic assessment tools. It then provides the knowledge and practical guidance needed to identify when a MAC assessment is appropriate and how to carry one out effectively. The course also covers suitable control measures to reduce risk and highlights any outstanding factors requiring attention, enabling participants to make informed decisions and implement effective workplace improvements.
On completion of LCE’s MAC training, delegates will have a strong understanding of ergonomic risk and the confidence to use the MAC tool to assess manual handling tasks and identify practical risk reduction measures.

RAPP – Risk Assessment for Pushing and Pulling tool
This tool is used when the handling/task involves manoeuvring, dragging, sliding and churning operations of wheeled and non-wheeled loads or equipment. The course covers when and why to use the RAPP tool and provides participants with the knowledge and practical guidance needed to identify when a RAPP assessment is appropriate and how to carry one out effectively.
On completion of LCE’s RAPP training, delegates will have a strong understanding of ergonomic risk and the confidence to use the RAPP tool to assess tasks which involve pushing and pulling.

ART – Assessment of Repetitive Tasks tool
This course covers when and how to use the ART tool. The training will provide participants with the knowledge and practical guidance needed to identify when an ART assessment is appropriate and how to carry one out effectively.
On completion of LCE’s ART training, delegates will have a strong understanding of ergonomic risk and the confidence to use the ART tool to assess tasks which involve repetitive tasks.
